Yonkers Arts Weekend: May 14-15, 2016
Yonkers Arts Weekend is a celebration of the thriving and diverse arts community in the City of Yonkers. OnSaturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15, hundreds of local, regional and international artists, artisans, painters, fashion designers, photographers, sculptors, craftsmen, musicians, filmmakers, new media specialists, and other artists will converge on Yonkers to showcase their work at Yonkers Arts Weekend.
Located along the Hudson River, Yonkers is New York’s fourth largest city and the largest city in Westchester County. A city in the center of it all, Yonkers serves as the gateway between New York City and the Hudson Valley, and is serviced by ten Metro North Stations.
Yonkers' growing historic Waterfront neighborhood features new luxury high-rise apartments offering stellar views of the Hudson River and Palisades, gourmet restaurants, shops, parks, and 40 sculptures and art installations, just a 25-minute train ride to Midtown Manhattan.
The Hudson River Museum
The largest cultural institution in Westchester County, the Hudson River Museum is a multi-disciplinary complex that draws its identity from its site on the banks of the magestic Hudson River, and seeks to broaden the cultural horizons of all its visitors. The Museum also features a new open-air performance amphitheater and state-of-the-art Planetarium.
Designed by Beaux Arts architect Welles Bosworth nearly 100 years ago, Yonkers' Untermyer Gardens is a 43-acre public park and walled garden situated along the Hudson River in North Yonkers. One of the finest examples of a Persian Garden in the Western Hemisphere, the gardens, fountains and statues of Untermyer have undergone a recent restoration by the Yonkers Parks Department and Untermyer Gardens Conservancy.
